How does an artificial landscape influence the perception on the ever changing nature of man made construction? Massvlakte is a massive extension of the Port in Rotterdam which was constructed in 1960. By reclaiming land from the sea, thousands of hectares have been created which are in use for industrialised facilities. Between 2008 and 2013 Maasvlakte 2 was constructed with another 2000 hectare of land. The project deals with the notion of an artificial landscape and the relation in society. How we perceive land and the human will to make use of it.The domination by human towards land and water is at this point no longer limited.
